Capt Singleton's Light Company |
|||
The recreated King's Royal Yorkers have two uniform period portrayals. From 1776 - 1778 the famous green coat with blue facings is our best guess based on a number of incomplete sources. However after 1779 we do know what the uniform looked like because there is a surviving example of an officer's coat in the Canadian War Museum at Ottawa; Ontario. After 1779, most loyalist regiments changed from green coats to the red of the regular British regiments. The Second Battalion, Capt. Singleton's company is our portrayal of the latter war uniform. In scarlet coats and waistcoats, Singleton forms the veteran travelling and tactical group in our organization. Recently changing from Captain Crawford's company to Captain Singleton's lights allows the company to take advantage of the superior light experience of the overall regiment.
